MiCA CASP Register — 243 authorised crypto-asset service providers

As of 26 June 2026, the ESMA MiCA CASP register contains 243 authorised crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) across the European Economic Area. These firms have received authorisation under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, MiCA) and are permitted to offer crypto-asset services to clients in the EEA.

The register covers 25 EEA member states and EEA countries that have granted at least one CASP authorisation. The breakdown by firm category is: Crypto-native firms: 150 (62%) and TradFi firms: 93 (38%).

Crypto-native firms are businesses whose core activity is crypto-assets — exchanges, brokers, custodians, and related services. TradFi firms are traditional financial institutions (banks, investment firms, payment institutions) that have obtained MiCA authorisation to add crypto-asset services alongside their existing regulated activities.

The ten firm types and their counts are:

• Crypto exchange: 69 entities (28%)
• Crypto broker: 30 entities (12%)
• Crypto PSP: 19 entities (8%)
• Crypto custodian: 9 entities (4%)
• Market maker / OTC liquidity: 7 entities (3%)
• Crypto asset manager: 9 entities (4%)
• Infrastructure / tokenisation / staking: 7 entities (3%)
• Bank / credit institution: 40 entities (16%)
• Investment firm / broker / asset manager: 47 entities (19%)
• Payments / EMI institution: 6 entities (2%)

This data is sourced directly from the ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) public register of MiCA-authorised CASPs, refreshed weekly. The Crypto-native / TradFi classification and sub-type categorisation are an interpretive overlay by Jamie Brew — MiCA itself defines no such split. Origin region and parent company data are best-effort research; entries marked "Under review" are pending confirmation.

The dashboard provides interactive charts including a breakdown by country, by MiCA service type (custody, trading platform, exchange for funds, exchange for crypto, execution, placing, reception and transmission, advice, portfolio management, transfer services), by company origin (European vs non-European parent), and a full searchable directory of all licensed entities.

Notable firms in the register include Bitpanda (Austria), Coinbase Europe (Ireland), Kraken (Ireland), OKX Europe (Malta), and Bitstamp (Luxembourg), among many others. Several major global exchanges — including Binance, Bitfinex, Bitget, MEXC, HTX (Huobi), and Upbit — are not present in this snapshot. Absence from this dataset does not confirm a firm has been refused authorisation; an application may be in progress or status may have changed after the snapshot date.
